Aaron Hernandez found guilty of first-degree murder

FALL RIVER, Mass. -- Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez has been found guilty of first-degree murder.
A Massachusetts jury on Wednesday found Hernandez killed Odin Lloyd on June 17, 2013. Lloyd was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee. He was found shot six times in an industrial park less than a mile from Hernandez's home.
At the time, Hernandez had a $40 million contract with the Patriots.
Hernandez's lawyer acknowledged during closing arguments that he was there when Lloyd was killed. But he pinned the shooting on Hernandez's two friends, saying his client was a 23-year-old kid who didn't know what to do.
Prosecutors said Hernandez planned the killing and then helped cover it up.
The conviction carries a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Cops Say Guns Also On Tour Bus

BREAKING NEWS
Nelly -- Busted for Pot & Meth ... Cops Say Guns Also On Tour Bus
Nelly's tour bus got nailed by cops in Tennessee for a bunch of alleged offenses -- and the rapper himself got hauled off to jail for felony possession of drugs ... including meth.
A state trooper pulled over the bus Saturday morning for not having a required Dept. of Transportation sticker ... and when the officer caught a strong whiff of pot ... he decided to conduct a search.
Cops say they found a baggie with crystal rocks that tested positive for meth, and a small amount of marijuana in the sleeper area of the bus. They say they also found quite the stash of guns -- a .50 caliber pistol, a .45 caliber pistol, and a .500 magnum Smith and Wesson.
Nelly was booked for the meth -- a felony -- and misdemeanor marijuana possession. He was also booked for drug paraphernalia -- cops say there were about 100 small Ziplock bags commonly used for the sale of drugs.

Indiana Pacers Forward Chris Copeland Stabbed at NYC Nightclub...

Indiana Pacers Forward Chris Copeland Stabbed, Wife Slashed, & 2 Atlanta Hawks Arrested At 1 OAK

Chris Copeland wife Katrine Saltara stabbed at 1 Oak

An altercation at the 1 OAK nightclub in New York left Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copelandstabbed, his wife, Katrine Saltara, slashed, and two Atlanta Hawks ballers arrested.

According to the New York Daily News an argument popped off between Copeland and Shezoy Bleary around 4 a.m. as they were exiting the club.
That’s when Bleary, 22, pulled out a knife and stabbed Chris and slashed his “wife” on her arm and her leg.

A second woman, Catherine Somani, who was with Bleary, was slashed in the abdomen. Police believe he accidentally injured her while attacking Copeland.
Chris Copeland and Katrine were rushed to Bellevue Hospital and were in stable condition. The third victim, Somani, was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital.

When the police arrived, Shezoy Bleary was apprehended. His charges are still pending.
Meanwhile at the club, Atlanta Hawks ballers, Pero Antić and Thabo Sefolosha, refused to move when police tried to set up a crime scene. Those dummies were charged with obstructing governmental administration.
This is EXACTLY why I don’t do clubs!

Walter Scott’s death at the hands of a cop captured on video is a nightmarish combination of the killings of other black men by white police from Ferguson to Staten Island and beyond.
Like Eric Garner, who was choked to death for selling illegal cigarettes, Scott’s fatal encounter with Patrolman Michael Slager came as a result of a petty offense: a dead brake light on Scott’s car.
Like Michael Brown, Scott was unarmed and was dozens of feet away from the police officer when he was shot to death.
Like the cops in almost every “officer-involved shooting,” Slager said he feared for his life.
Unlike all of those incidents, there is a video that undeniably shows a man who did nothing to warrant the eight shots in the back he took from Slager’s gun.
Unlike all of those incidents, the police officer this time was immediately charged with a crime: murder.

Scott and Slager tussle in the beginning before Scott unevenly, slowly breaks away, just beyond the reach of the officer’s taser darts. Slager rips his gun from his holster and fires shots so fast they’re almost indistinguishable.
One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven.
Pause.
Eight.
Scott drops to the ground in a stomach-turning lump and Slager gets on his radio.
“Shots fired and the subject is down,” Slager said on Saturday, according to the incident report. “He took my Taser.”
Except he didn’t, or at least he didn’t have it in his cold dead hands.
It’s the ultimate nightmare of a black man meeting the police: killed, then framed.
With another officer on the scene, Slager comes up to Scott and tells the dying man to put his hands behind his back. The video is shaky and blurred in this moment, but it doesn’t appear Scott is able to follow this command very well, given the eight slugs in his body. After Scott is cuffed, Slager jogs back to where his Taser lies in the dirt, picks it up, carries it over, and drops it next to Scott’s body.
This apparent planting of a weapon on Scott is exactly what many blacks say, without evidence, happens after one of their own is killed by a cop.
“Oh, shit,” the anonymous cameraman says, seeing the apparent frame-up.
“Fucking abuse.”
A black cop puts on latex gloves as he works over Scott’s body.
“Fucking abuse, man.”
The wind howls into the phone’s microphone, muffling the officers’ conversation.
“Shit, they shot him,” the bystander says to no one but soon to the entire world.
The cameraman’s heavy breathing is one of the last things we hear, and by this point we’re breathing just like he is, hardly believing what we just watched.

The video stops and then starts back up, now with more officers kneeling near Scott’s body. One runs to the dying or dead man with a first aid kit. A motorcycle roars in the background. Two officers—including the black cop in the latex gloves—work on Scott. Slager and another officer talk nearby.

Video of S. Carolina Cop Killing Innocent African American Man Surfaces...

South Carolina Officer Charged With Murder After Video Shows Him Shooting Black Man In Back

A white South Carolina police officer was charged with murder on Tuesday after a newly surfaced video showed him fatally shooting an unarmed black man in the back as he ran away, The Post Courier reports.

The North Charleston officer, 33-year-old Michael T. Slager, maintains he feared for his life during the Saturday traffic stop in a statement released earlier this week by his attorney. According to the statement, Slager stopped Walter Scott’sMercedes-Benz sedan after he noticed the 50-year-old had a broken brake light. During the encounter, Scott allegedly took the officer’s Taser and ran from him. That’s when Slager fired his gun eight times.

According to police reports, Slager utilized the Taser prior to the shooting, but it did not stop Scott. Slager can be heard on the police radio reporting the shooting.
“Shots fired and the subject is down. He took my Taser,” Slager said according to police reports.

Video of the encounter, caught by an anonymous bystander, paints a different story, the New York Times writes:
The video begins in the vacant lot, apparently moments after Officer Slager fired his Taser. Wires, which carry the electrical current from the stun gun, appear to be extending from Mr. Scott’s body as the two men tussle and Mr. Scott turns to run.
Something — it is not clear whether it is the stun gun — is either tossed or knocked to the ground behind the two men and Officer Slager draws his gun, the video shows. When the officer fires, Mr. Scott appears to be 15 to 20 feet away and fleeing. He falls after the last of eight shots.
During a news conference Tuesday, Mayor Keith Summeysaid that Slager’s “bad decision” prompted his arrest.
“When you’re wrong, you’re wrong,” Summey said. “When you make a bad decision, don’t care if you’re behind the shield or a citizen on the street, you have to live with that decision.”
Slugger’s attorney, David Aylor, announced Tuesday that he would not be representing the officer anymore.
Although Slager, a former Coast Guardsman, served for more than five years with the department without any disciplinary action against him, he was the subject of two complaints, including one from a man who said the officer shot him with a Taser for no reason in 2013.
Slager was exonerated of any wrongdoing in the incident. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is currently investigating Scott’s fatal shooting.

"Help Bail Out Suge Knight Fund" Launched

A Suge Knight advocate has created a campaign via GoFundMe to help bail the Death Row Records founder out of prison.
The "Help Bail Out Suge Knight Fund" was created by KJ Simpson on January 31, two days after Knight was involved in a hit-and-run that left one man dead and another injured in Compton, California.
"Suge is in Lockup for a simple misunderstanding," the site states. "Please help put together the $202,500 to help get him out. If we fall short we will just put the money on his books. please help."
$0 of Simpson's $202,500 goal has been donated. Many of the comments on the campaign site include expletives towards Knight, and question the validity of the funding.
The monetary amount Simpson is asking for is based on the initial $2 million bail that was set for Knight. A person who is incarcerated can be released on bail if 10 percent of the bail amount is paid to a bail bondsman. The bail bondsman covers the rest of the payment. The bail bondsman is then responsible for making sure the accused appears at their court dates.
On February 2, three days after the "Help Bail Out Suge Knight Fund" was created, Knight's original attorney James E. Blatt told reporters that Knight's bail had been revoked.
In late March, Knight's bail was raised to $25 million.
HipHopDX has reached out to Simpson to comment. At press time, he did not respond.

Rapper DMX may be finding himself in trouble with the law yet again as the “What’s My Name?” performer is being investigated as a suspect in an armed robbery.
NBC New York reports that a 21-year-old man claims DMX (real name Earl Simmons), along with members of his entourage, robbed him at gunpoint at the Exxon gas station on U.S. Highway 21 in Newark, New Jersey. The victim told police that he encountered a man, whom he identified as the 44-year-old rapper, at around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 5. The victim went on the say that after having a brief conversation with DMX about rap music, suddenly a member of the entourage flashed a gun and demanded cash.
According to the 21-year-old man, he pulled out about $3,200 from his pocket, which DMX grabbed from him. The rapper and his associates allegedly fled the scene in four black Cadillac Escalades. The man told detectives that he jumped in his own vehicle to tail the cars and was able to obtain a number from one of the license plates.
The day before, DMX tweeted that he was attending a hip-hop concert on Saturday night at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, which puts him in the city around that time.
NBC attempted to reach out the rapper’s rep, but there has been no response. The rapper has had a string of arrests stemming back to 1998, with his most recent arrest being in November 2013 for driving under suspension, having an uninsured car, and driving without a license.
No charges have been filed and police are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
